Museum of Houston Collaborating Organizations

The Museum of Houston project began in 2005 when several of Houston's leading institutions attended a meeting with the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance (GHPA) to discuss the possibility of building an on-line data repository and museum. Actual work began in 2006 when GHPA received a two-year grant from Houston Endowment Inc. and another grant from The Albert and Ethel Herzstein Charitable Foundation.

The Museum of Houston is a collaborative project founded and managed by Greater Houston Preservation Alliance. Rice University, a founding partner, provides the technical infrastructure for the repository and website. Many of Houston's leading educational institutions and cultural organizations are collaborators on the project.

Steering Committee Members Other Participating Institutions

Other institutions and individuals with information about Houston's history are invited to make contributions to the repository. The information contained in these materials would be accessible to the public through the Museum of Houston, while the documents and artifacts would remain in private hands. Contact the project manager for additional information.
